JANESVILLE, Wis. — Brewing has long been a part of Wisconsin’s history, and that was on display in Janesville on Saturday.
The “History of Brewing in Janesville” event showcased the work of local historian Robert Bier and volunteers who have been uncovering parts of a brewery that was built in 1857.
The group has been excavating the site since 2015 and has found items that give a glimpse into the buildings of the era, the items used in the brewery, and the personal items of the people who lived in the area.
“To be able to share that detail with them, all this history, is extremely rewarding,” Bier said.
A second event will be held on September 17.
