MADISON, Wis. — A grant program that supports Wisconsin small businesses got a boost Tuesday.
The Main Street Bounceback program got a $25 million investment, Governor Evers and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation announced. That brings the total investment in the program to $100 million.
The move means that an estimated 10,000 businesses and nonprofits will be helped by the program. To date, over 6,200 grants have been handed out across all of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.
“One of our top priorities for our pandemic recovery has been supporting our local communities,” Evers said. “We knew that investing in Wisconsin ingenuity and entrepreneurship would pay dividends for our state and local economies, and it certainly has.”
Under the program, grant recipients get $10,000 to move or expand into vacant commercial spaces. The program is funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act, which President Biden signed into law in March of last year.
