MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man was sentenced to two years in federal prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to having a gun illegally.
Dwayne Peeples, 42, pleaded guilty earlier this year to possessing a firearm as a felon. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.
In July of last year, Madison police stopped a car that Peeples was a passenger in after they allegedly saw him conduct a drug deal at Penn Park. Officers searched the car and found a 9mm firearm and a loaded magazine. The magazine contained five hollow-point rounds. Peeples is not allowed to own firearms due to multiple past felony convictions.
Peeples was charged following an investigation by Madison police and the ATF.
