BARABOO, Wis. — Baraboo police arrested three men — including a Baraboo School District staff member — Wednesday night after another male reported he and the passengers in his vehicle were unwillingly forced out of the car.
Lieutenant Ryan La Broscian with the Baraboo Police Department said in a news release that the victim told police the suspects used a “torch-like device”, but authorities didn’t elaborate on the circumstances leading up to or surrounding the incident.
According to a statement posted on Facebook by the district, the incident involved a school district employee, parents and students. Jim Langkamp, the district’s director of activity programs was one of the three men arrested. It’s unclear what role students and parents had in the incident.
District officials said in their statement that they “will look into this matter” when law enforcement officials finish their investigation. News 3 Now has reached out to the district to learn if Langkamp will face any disciplinary action.
Police said the encounter happened in the 1100 block of Tandom Trail around 10:30 p.m.
Social media posts reviewed by law enforcement seemed to back up the victim’s claims, according to Lieutenant La Broscian.
Police referred charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct, and false imprisonment for all three men. As of Thursday morning, none of the men had been charged in Sauk County Court.
Authorities said their investigation is ongoing and more charges could be added as the case moves forward.
News 3 Now is not naming the other two suspects at this time as part of a policy not to name people accused of crimes until they have been formally charged in court. Despite a lack of formal charges, News 3 Now named Langkamp because he is a public figure as a school district employee. Click here to learn more about the policy.
