MADISON, Wis. — Law enforcement officers from a number of agencies arrested four men on Thursday as part of an operation aimed at cracking down on vehicle thefts, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release Friday afternoon, the agency said a four-hour operation on Thursday ended with the four men being arrested in three traffic stops. Officers also recovered a stolen vehicle and a gun from a convicted felon.
As part of the operation, police arrested a 31-year-old man on multiple outstanding warrants, a 28-year-old man on a probation hold, a 32-year-old man for knowingly fleeing an officer following a pursuit and traffic stop, and a 19-year-old man on a number of charges ranging from operating a motor vehicle without consent and fleeing an officer to possession of a firearm by a felon.
Nearly a dozen local, county, state and federal agencies took part in the effort.
