JANESVILLE, Wis. — Police are searching for a person or people who they say stole a Taser, tactical vest and ammunition from a squad car in Janesville sometime between Friday and Tuesday morning.
In a news release Tuesday afternoon, the Janesville Police Department said the items were taken from a vehicle parked in front of a home near Birdsong and Lapidary Lanes on the city’s southwest side.
Police said “an employee of a non-local law enforcement agency” reported the theft as happening sometime between Friday evening and Tuesday morning. There were no signs of forced entry, leading police to believe the vehicle was left unlocked.
The thief or thieves reportedly took an olive green tactical vest with body armor, a yellow Taser, a radio, two pairs of binoculars, and two Glock magazines with 9mm ammunition.
The release did not name the law enforcement agency from which the theft occurred; in an email to News 3 Now, Janesville Police Sgt. Dean Sukus said that decision was made “in the interest of the safety of that employee and their family.”
