MIDDLETON, Wis. — The Willy Street Co-op’s location in Middleton has a new mural to show off to the public.
In June, shoppers voted on their preferred mural for the side of the store, choosing the “Local and Native Species” theme.
The mural was designed by the non-profit Dane Arts Mural Arts, which works to beautify neighborhoods throughout Dane County.
“I wanted to tell the story of what does it mean to belong to a place and belong to a system that we are mutually tending to one another and that we’re part of the landscape,” artist Maria Schirmer said. “It’s not nature and then human.”
Community members helped paint the mural.
