MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office identified a man Saturday who was fatally shot by a Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputy in Windsor Thursday night.
Quantaze Campbell, 46, of Madison died of firearm-related injuries, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. The Department of Justice is investigating the shooting but has not shared any additional details about the incident.
Campbell’s family spoke to News 3 Now on Friday and said they don’t know what led to his death.
Court records show he had a warrant pending since Sept. 20 for failing to appear in a felony criminal case. Filings also show Campbell is accused of helping steal ten thousand dollars worth of copper coils from UW Hospital in June, the case for which he was wanted on a warrant
His family said they have plans to meet with the DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation, where they hope to learn more about why Campbell was killed.
