JANESVILLE, Wis. — Rock County Sheriff’s officials warned people Monday about a scammer posing as a sergeant.
Officials said that multiple people reported receiving a call from someone identifying themselves as Rock County Patrol Sergeant Reed. The call allegedly told people to send them money to fix a legal matter.
A similar scam was reported in March. Officials said they are not aware of anyone losing money to the scammer.
Officials said the sheriff’s office will not call people and ask them for money. Anyone who gets one of the scam calls should call the Rock County Communications Center at 608-757-2244.
