MADISON, Wis. — Madison police arrested four teens Monday who they said were trying to steal a Kia from an underground parking garage.
Officers were sent to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of Raymond Road just before 10:30 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. Police said the burglars were trying to steal a bicycle and a Kia that were parked in the garage.
The building was surrounded, but as police went to enter the garage the suspects opened the door. Police said all four tried to run from the scene but were quickly taken into custody.
Three 14-year-old boys and a 13-year-old boy were arrested and face charges of burglary and party to a crime of attempted operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
One of the 14-year-old suspects also faces charges of possessing a facsimile firearm and resisting arrest. Another of the 14-year-old suspects faces an additional charge of possession of burglarious tools. The third 14-year-old suspect also faces charges of resisting arrest and tampering with an ankle monitor.
The 13-year-old suspect faces additional charges of resisting arrest and lying about his name.
All four were taken to the Juvenile Reception Center. Police did not name any of the suspects.
