MADISON, Wis. — Madison picked its favorites, and now the names for the Streets Division’s electric compactors have been announced.
The trash compactor has been named Rosie the Rubbisher, while its recycling compactor twin has been dubbed Stone Cold Squeeze Often, the city announced Friday.
Those two names rose to the top during an election held earlier this year. Voters listed their favorite names, with their top pick earning five points, their second earning four points, and so on.
While Rosie the Rubbisher didn’t win the most first-place votes for the trash compactor — that honor went to Crush Farley — it received the highest overall point total of 4,342, the city said. Crush Farley came in second overall, followed by Trashy McTrashface, Squashbob Trashpants and Alexander Cramilton.
Stone Cold Squeeze Often received the most points — 3,744 — and the most overall first-place votes in the recycling compactor election. The other top five competitors were Sir Crushalot, George Squashington, Ron Squeezely and Pulverine.
