BELOIT, Wis. — Incumbent Republican Sen. Ron Johnson met with local business leaders at IronTek in Beloit Wednesday as he seeks a third term representing Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate.
Johnson hosted a closed-door roundtable event and spoke to reporters afterward about how he feels about his campaign so far and his 12 years in office.
“I’m pretty proud of my record as Wisconsin’s U.S. Senator,” he said. “I’ve accomplished a lot for the state. I’ve told the truth. In 2010, I made two promises: I’ll tell the truth and I’ll never vote with my election in mind. I’ve honored those promises.”
In response to a question about his pledge not to run for a third term, Johnson said, “That was my intention. Things change.”
