Clayton County Judge Not Appointed For Vacancy

A Clayton County judge was not selected to fill a vacancy on the Iowa Court of Appeals. Gov. Kim Reynolds on Wednesday appointed Tyler Buller, an assistant attorney general in the Iowa Department of Justice, to fill a vacancy created when David May was appointed in June to the Iowa Supreme Court. Iowa District Court Judge Alan Heavens, of Garnavillo, was among the nominees sent by the State Judicial Nominating Commission to Reynolds for the state Supreme Court vacancy and then the Court of Appeals opening. Heavens was appointed to the bench by Reynolds in February 2019. He was elected as Clayton County attorney in 2010 and served in that capacity until he was appointed as a judge.
