MADISON, Wis. — Robert “Fighting Bob” La Follette may soon be getting a plaque below his bust in the state capitol.
La Follette was considered the founder of the progressive movement while also serving Wisconsin as governor, U.S. Representative, and U.S. Senator.
“I noticed that here was Robert La Follette, probably the most famous politician ever to be in Wisconsin, and there was nothing explaining who he was. The average person would have no idea,” Doug La Follette, Bob’s first cousin twice-removed, said of the bust that is currently in the Wisconsin State Capitol.
The State Capitol Executive Residency Board approved the proposal for a plaque on the terms that Doug La Follette would raise the money for it.
