MADISON, Wis. — U.S. Marshals arrested a man Friday who they said was wanted on multiple warrants in multiple jurisdictions.
Officials said Kolby Smith, 24, has warrants issued for charges of felon in possession of a firearm, use of a dangerous weapon, possession of an illegal article, 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, violating parole and battery.
Police in Beloit tried to arrest the 24-year-old suspect at a carwash in Beloit on October 28 but he drove away. The vehicle he was using was later found abandoned.
Smith was tracked to a hotel in Madison where officials said he was staying under an alias. Officials said he spotted officers in the parking lot of the hotel and ran away on foot. Officers were able to catch up to him near the 4400 block of East Broadway Service Road and he was arrested.
Officers allegedly found a stolen handgun, over 850 grams of meth and 15 grams of an unknown powder in the hotel room where he was staying.
He was taken to the Dane County Jail and faces new charges of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest and fleeing and eluding.
