MADISON, Wis. — As the final 2022 Madison Night Market wound down with dozens of vendors lining state street, a six week Shine On campaign kicked off with a spark.
“We’re here we are at the top of state street, it’s a little cold but we are thrilled to bring people down here, for the Madison night market and our seasonal lighting celebration where we turn on all of our decorations,” said Tiffany Kenney, the Executive Director for Downtown Madison.
“The main focus of this is to brighten things up down here, to turn on a bunch of seasonal decorations, and encourage people to visit downtown Madison,” Kenney added.
And nothing puts you in the holiday spirit like giving. The Boys and Girls Club of Madison was giving away candy canes, while St. Vincent de Paul of Madison was selling cookies and hot cocoa to raise money for college tuition for those in need.
“Were fundraising for scholarships for those who can’t afford it to go to college and were selling hot cocoa and cookies trying to keep people warm,” said Liam, a volunteer for Madison St. Vincent De Paul Youth Service Council.
“So were out here, were handing out candy canes, we got some great fliers too, and were just trying to get everyone in the spirit for thanksgiving and the holiday season coming up,” Jenna Sticha, Special Events Manager, Madison Boys and Girls Club.
And if you missed out on the festivities, there are plenty more to come. “For the next six weeks we’ve got many things downtown, we’ve got a holiday open house next week with a trolley we’ve got carolers coming every Saturday, the Overture Center is slammed full of good things happening, and it’s just gonna be a great downtown this year,” Kenney said.
