BELOIT, Wis. — Police in Beloit are investigating a burglary that involved two people posing as city water department employees while a third stole from a home.
The burglary happened around 6 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.
In a Facebook post, the Beloit Police Department said two Hispanic men in their mid-30s dressed in bright yellow shirts, lanyards and bandanas on their faces went to the home and told those inside there was an issue with the water that needed to be tested. The duo distracted the homeowners in the kitchen while a third suspect stole items from elsewhere in the home.
The post did not say how much the burglars took.
Police cautioned residents to make sure anyone coming to their doors claiming to be a city employee, especially after business hours, has city identification.
