MADISON, Wis. — Some businesses, community centers and services closed down Thursday due to heavy snowfall that came overnight.
The snow, which starting falling around the state Wednesday night and through Thursday morning, prompted schools throughout the area to close as well.

Some residents in Madison and in areas like Baraboo and Portage also saw power outages caused by heavy snow falling on power lines.
Here’s a list of closures in the Madison area and beyond:
Dane County
- Goodman Community Center programs and resources — including the Center’s childcare, after-school, and food pantry services — will be closed all day Thursday.
- Madison Lakes Dental is closed all day Thursday.
- Madison School & Community Recreation has canceled all in-person programming for Thursday, citing “winter weather and hazardous road conditions.” Virtual programs will continue as scheduled.
- Meals on Wheels deliveries are canceled for Thursday, according to SSM Health. Recipients should use their blizzard meals instead.
Columbia County
- Columbia County’s elder nutrition program is closed all day Thursday.
