MADISON, Wis. — Nitty Gritty’s downtown location has reopened after a fire forced the popular restaurant to temporarily shut its doors more than a month ago.
The restaurant shared an update on its Facebook page late last week saying the downtown location is back open for both dine-in and delivery.
“We are happy to be back to work and look forward to serving our community again!” the post reads.
No one was hurt in the fire, which happened around 1:10 a.m. on Nov. 20. An earlier post on the restaurant’s social media pages said the restaurant sustained minimal damage but repairs would take some time to complete.
Fire investigators said the blaze was likely caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. Officials with the Madison Fire Department said people were reportedly seen smoking in the area multiple times throughout the day, including shortly before smoke began coming from a nearby dumpster.
