SAUK COUNTY, Wis. — An 18-year-old from Reedsburg has been arrested and charged following a crash that killed one person near Lake Delton in Sauk County.
The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. on I-90/94 when the 18-year-old driver of a pickup truck was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes and crashed head-on into a sedan, according to Wisconsin State Patrol.
One of the passengers of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, the other occupants of the car were taken to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the pickup were not injured.
After an investigation, officials said signs of impairment were detected from the driver of the pickup.
Field sobriety tests were conducted at the scene and the driver was arrested for operating while under the influence.
The driver was booked into Sauk County Jail and has been charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, operating while
suspended causing death, possession of open intoxicants, possession of intoxicants by underage driver and drive wrong way on divided highway.
The names of those involved in the crash have not been released at this time.
As of 2:30 a.m. all lanes have been reopened on I-90/94.
