DODGEVILLE, Wis. — Not guilty pleas were entered Tuesday for two men accused of killing a woman over an inheritance.
Aric Way, 51, and Philip Schmidt-Way, 28, are both charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide as a party to a crime in the death of a Dodgeville woman in July 2021.

Wisconsin Department of Justice officials said the woman was Way’s mother and Schmidt-Way’s grandmother. Prior to her death, she had agreed to sell her family farm, which Schmidt-Way was set to inherit.
She was found dead in her home and an autopsy later determined carbon monoxide poisoning was a contributing factor in her death.
