BELOIT, Wis. — The City of Beloit combined its polling places Wednesday for the February primary election.
Officials said the City Council made the move due to expected low voter turnout. The city will now use two polling places for the Feb. 21 election.
Voters living on the west side of the Rock River, in Wards 1-11; 24-26 and 31, will vote at the Beloit Historical Society, 845 Hackett Street. Voters on the east side of the river, in Wards 12-23 and 27-30, will vote at Central Christian Church, 2460 Milwaukee Road.
The changes are only for the February primary. Voters should confirm their ward number at myvote.wi.gov.
Voters looking to participate in the primary must establish residency in the City of Beloit by Jan. 24. The last day to register to vote by mail or online is Feb. 1 and the last day to register at City Hall is at 5 p.m. on Feb. 17. You can still register at your polling location on Feb. 21.
The last day to request an absentee ballot in the mail is 5 p.m. on Feb. 16. The deadline to return absentee ballots to the Clerk’s Office is 8 p.m. on Feb. 21.
In-person absentee begins on Feb. 7 and will run through on Feb. 17. Voters should go to the second floor of the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours will be extended to 5 p.m. on Feb. 17.
