MADISON, Wis. — UW-Madison police asked the public to avoid the area around the UW Biochemistry Laboratories Tuesday morning.
According to a WiscAlert sent at 8:38 a.m., a suspicious package was found outside the building at 433 Babcock Drive.

UWPD officers assessed the scene.
At 9:18 a.m., a second WiscAlert indicated that the scene was all clear and the area could return to normal operations.

Speaking to News 3 Now, UWPD spokesperson Marc Lovicott said an odd-looking package was found near a dumpster and reported to police just before 8 a.m. Officers examined the package and determined there was no threat to the area.
