MONROE CO., Wis. (WKBT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is opening a death investigation after a body was found Wednesday morning in the Township of La Grange.
According to authorities, deputies found the body of a woman shortly after 10 a.m. in a rural area of the county.
They found the body while searching for Felicia J. Wanna, who has been missing since the beginning of January.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office believes the woman found is Wanna.
The sheriff’s office says this is an ongoing investigation and they’ll release more information when they can.
The death investigation is being done by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner, the Ho-Chunk Police Department, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, State Patrol, and Department of Criminal Investigations.
Agencies who helped in the search include the above, as well as the state’s Department of Justice, La Crosse, Tomah, and Eau Claire Police Departments, Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, Oakdale Fire Department, Wisconsin K9 SOS, Wisconsin and Minnesota K9 Search and Rescue, Rapid Search and Rescue, and The Salvation Army.
