WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Bryan Steil, who serves Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district, was appointed Tuesday to chair the Committee on House Administration.
The Republican from Janesville was a minority member of the committee in the previous Congress and served on the Elections subcommittee.
“I am honored to serve as chairman of the Committee on House Administration,” Steil said. “My top priorities on the Committee include ensuring the House is open, secure and accountable to the American people, and to strengthen Americans trust in our elections.”

Steil takes over as chair from Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a Democrat representing California’s 19th congressional district. Lofgren had been chair f the committee since 2019.
The committee has jurisdiction on legislation and other matters relating to the House of Representatives including federal elections, the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institute.
