Single Vehicle Crash Near Galena

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle accident in the area of U.S. Highway 20 in rural Galena Monday shortly before 4pm.. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that a vehicle driven by Maria Rodriguez had been traveling east bound on U.S. Highway 20 West, when at the merge of the four lanes, she lost control of her vehicle and began to skid. Rodriguez then over-corrected and crossed into the median before ultimately rolling her vehicle multiple times. Rodriguez was taken from the scene to Mercy Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. A juvenile passenger in Rodriguez’s vehicle was taken to Midwest Medical Center and then to UW-Madison hospital for treatment of injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction unit.
