A fire at a Dubuque manufacturing facility Wednesday damaged a piece of equipment and prompted an evacuation, although no injuries were reported. Firefighters responded to A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co., on Chavenelle Road, just after 5 p.m. after being notified by a fire alarm. Arriving at the rear loading docks, crews found smoke filling a walkthrough leading into the facility. A report says a machine manufacturing brass fittings had caught fire. The majority of the manufacturing plant’s staff evacuated, except for a handful of personnel who attempted to put out the fire using handheld extinguishers.
