Dubuque man killed in Wisconsin logging accident

Authorities say a Dubuque man died Wednesday from injuries sustained while working on a log skidder in Richland County. 54 year old Joseph Abitz, was pronounced dead at Richland Hospital following the incident. The incident happened about 5 p.m. Wednesday. Abitz was attempting to remove a hydraulic accumulator on the machinery that, unknown to Abitz, still was under pressure. Emergency personnel from multiple departments responded and removed Abitz from the log skidder. Personnel began medical treatment on the scene before Abitz was transported to Richland Hospital.
