The Iowa County Communications Center received an automated emergency call Wednesday around 12:30pm indicating that there had been a possible motor vehicle crash in the area of County Road G and Lower Mifflin Road in Mifflin Township. Numerous units from Rewey Fire, Montfort EMS and an Iowa County Deputy responded to the area and were unable to locate a crash or anyone in need of assistance. It was later determined that a cell phone had been accidentally left on top of a vehicle and flew off a short time after the vehicle began driving, causing the phone to believe there had been a crash and initiating an automated 911 call.
