Drug Take Back Day in Dubuque Collects Over 350 Pounds

A drug take-back event held Saturday in Dubuque collected more than 350 pounds of items. The Dubuque Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Asbury Police Department, participated in a nationwide effort sponsored by the DEA to collect old and unused prescription medications. Items collected included prescription medication, non-prescription medication, vitamins, herbals, supplements, syringes and other items. According to information in a report, the total weight of prescription and non-prescription medication collected during the event was 297.8 pounds. The total weight of sharps collected was just over 54 pounds. The items collected will be incinerated at a later date.
