Three people were displaced by a house fire in Dubuque Monday night. Firefighters responded shortly after 11 p.m. to a report of a fire at a single-family home Central Avenue. Crews extinguished the fire, which was found in a second-floor bathroom and adjacent walls. A report says the house sustained moderate smoke damage to the second floor and was deemed uninhabitable by officials. The American Red Cross assisted three individuals with finding alternative living arrangements. Dubuque Fire Chief Amy Scheller said the fire caused an estimated $50,000 in property loss and about $12,000 in damage to the residents’ items. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Dubuque Fire Marshall’s Office.
