Fatal Crash Results in Drunk Driving Arrest

Complete details on a fatal car crash near Cassville has been released by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department. On Thursday around 1:00pm, authoritites responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 81 and Settlement Road in the Township of Cassville. 33 year old Erin Ruberg of Cassville, was traveling south on Settlement Road and came to a “rolling” stop at the stop sign and then pulled away from the stop sign to continue traveling south onto County Highway Y. At the same time, 52 year old Gerald Dukett of Cassville, was traveling east on Highway 81. Ruberg pulled out in front of Dukett’s vehicle and Dukett struck Ruberg’s vehicle on the passenger side sending both vehicles spinning violently into a ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection. Dukett’s vehicle also rolled onto its passenger side and Dukett was ejected from his vehicle. Dukett was pronounced dead at the scene. Ruberg sustained some minor injuries in the crash. After an investigation and field sobriety tests Ruberg was determined to be impaired by an intoxicant and was arrested for Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle. Ruberg was taken to the Grant County Jail where she is being held without bond until she can appear in front of a judge.
