A new trial date has been set for a Dubuque man accused of attempted murder. 30 year old Randell Heine is charged in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County with attempted murder, first-degree burglary, domestic assault with display or use of a weapon, and several other charges. Heine’s trial now is set to start August 8th. It was previously scheduled to begin June 27th. Reports say that Heine broke into the house of his friend 33 year old Zachary Schmitt of Dubuque, on December 31st. Inside the house were Schmitt and Heine’s wife, 26 year old Miranda Heine. Randell Heine brandished a handgun as he opened the bedroom door and threatened Schmitt and Miranda Heine and pointed the gun at Schmitt. Miranda Heine and Schmitt heard the gun click, but no shot was fired.
