Police say a woman camping in a wooded area behind a Dubuque gas station started a small fire that spread out of control. 49 year old Emily Vorwald was arrested around 10:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Kerper Court on charges of reckless use of fire and possession of drug paraphernalia. A report says that police observed a brush fire in the wooded area behind the BP gas station on East 16th Street at about 10 p.m. Saturday. Dubuque firefighters extinguished multiple small fires in an area of about 150-feet-by-50-feet. Police saw Vorwald walking away from the scene. She admitted to camping in the wooded area for a few nights and told police she lit a small fire to be able to see so she could retrieve some of her belongings.
