After being placed on administrative leave earlier this week, the president of Northeast Iowa Community College, Herbert Riedel, states that he has done nothing wrong. Riedel was placed on administrative leave until further notice following a series of closed session board of trustees meetings Monday that lasted nearly seven hours. In a statement Wednesday, Riedel said, “While I cannot comment on the reasons behind the board’s decision at this time, I have done nothing unlawful, unethical, immoral or illegal and remain ready, willing and able to serve the college.” The three closed sessions during the board’s special meeting on Monday were called to discuss a “personnel matter.” NICC has not shared further details about what prompted the decision to place Riedel on administrative leave.
