Northeast Iowa Community College officials have released additional information on what prompted the college’s board of trustees to place NICC president Herbert Riedel on administrative leave last month. In a statement Thursday, NICC officials shared that the decision to place Riedel on administrative leave occurred after a review of the following concerns: (1) issues raised during Dr. Riedel’s initial evaluation; (2) complaints received regarding hiring practices and (3) complaints received regarding the treatment of administrative staff. Specific details have not been shared, as they are confidential personnel matters, and there is no update on how long Riedel’s leave of absence will be in effect. Dave Dahms, the college’s vice president of finance and administration, is now serving as the acting president.
