Wisconsin collects most medications in Drug take back event

Wisconsinites once again turned in more unwanted medications than residents of any other state during the latest national Drug Take Back event, the state’s Department of Justice said Thursday. Wisconsin collected 53,122 pounds of unneeded medications during the event on Oct. 28, the justice department said. While no other state saw as many medications turned in, Wisconsin’s number is down slightly from the more than 55,000 pounds that were collected in April. Since the twice-annual event began in 2010, Wisconsin has collected more than 1.2 million pounds of prescription medications.
