Dubuque Community School District staff and students will follow a calendar for the next two school years that eliminates weeklong spring breaks. School board members on Monday unanimously approved calendars for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years that were proposed last month after taking public feedback on the calendars through the end of November. Superintendent Amy Hawkins said about 680 people submitted public feedback on the calendars, including district parents, students and staff. The first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year is Friday, Aug. 23, while the first day in the 2025-2026 school year will be Monday, Aug. 25.
