Asbury Officials To Proceed With Roundabout Plans

Despite opposition from neighbors, city of Asbury officials plan to proceed with the second phase of a roundabout project they hope will improve safety and traffic flow on one of the city’s busiest roads. City Council members unanimously approved a motion to proceed, in time, with the construction of a fourth leg of a planned roundabout at Hales Mill and Asbury roads, with that leg to be designed on a curve into Radford Road rather than a T-intersection as previously proposed. Council members said while this option represents the council’s “general direction” in terms of plans for the roundabout, funding is not secured for construction of the fourth leg and the actions of future councils could change the plan.
