Unemployment rates in most local Iowa counties increased slightly in December compared to a month earlier, while a southwest Wisconsin county continues to boast the lowest unemployment rate in the state, according to recently released reports. Dubuque County’s unemployment rate was 2.8% in December, up from the 2.7% recorded in November and down from the 3% recorded in December 2022, according to Iowa Workforce Development. In Wisconsin, Lafayette County’s unemployment rate was 1.9% in December, the lowest rate in the state, according to Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development. The county’s unemployment rate was 2% in December 2022.
