Thursday evening cars lined the road of Eastside Drive in Platteville as over one hundred people attended Family Advocates ribbon cutting and grand opening of their new shelter. The event was a celebration of the services Family Advocates is able to offer and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers came to help them celebrate. Evers acknowledged the importance of the services Family Advocates offers and expressed positivity toward the impact they’ll make.Â
Family Advocates Treasurer, Aaron Cullen, acknowledged all the community support and expressed how long this project was in the making.Â
Family Advocates mission is the eradication of abuse. Prevention and intervention services will be provided to victims and survivors of domestic, sexual, child, and elder abuse in Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties. Governor Evers ended his speech with a statement of appreciation for Family Advocates.Â
