A Dubuque nonprofit serving children and teenagers plans to open a private, nondenominational Christian school this fall. Dubuque Dream Center, which offers after-school and summer programming for school-aged children and teens, will launch Dubuque Dream Center Academy. The school initially will serve 60 students in kindergarten through sixth grade, with a goal of doubling that number next year and eventually expanding to include middle and high school students. Currently, the center provides academic help and mentorship, as well as athletic and performing arts opportunities, for the approximately 180 students in its programs. For the 2024-2025 academic year, Dubuque Dream Center Academy plans to serve 60 students. Currently, 30 students are enrolled, and another 30 have expressed interest, according to Kimble.Â
