Dubuque Community Schools has a new strategic plan with goals that include reducing chronic absenteeism and increasing graduation rates. School board members at their meeting Monday approved the district’s strategic plan for the next five years. The board also approved a new three-year rolling contract for School Superintendent Amy Hawkins that will see her receive a 1.6% salary increase in the upcoming school year. From July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, Hawkins will be paid $235,470 and receive an additional $17,500 in a retirement account. She will be paid “no less than” that amount for the following two years of her contract.
