Police say a Dubuque motorist potentially suffered a seizure Saturday before crashing into a utility pole. 76 year old Terry Merz of Dubuque suffered minor injuries in the incident, which occurred at about 6:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Jackson Street and East 22nd Street. Merz was northbound on Jackson Street when he veered to the right through the intersection and hit an Alliant Energy pole. A report says he remained at the scene for a couple minutes before backing up and leaving. Merz later told police he “blacked out” and did not realize he had hit anything. He was cited with failure to maintain control and leaving the scene of an accident and property damage.
