A Delaware County woman who was driving a UTV in a 2021 rollover crash that killed a passenger has pleaded guilty to homicide or serious injury by vehicle. 28 year old Hanna Meese of Edgewood entered the plea in Iowa District Court of Delaware County. Meese initially was charged with homicide by vehicle-operating while intoxicated. A report says that Meese intends to seek a 10-year suspended sentence in the case and five years of probation. Meese also would pay $150,000 to the victim’s family. Meese was operating a UTV at about 7:55 p.m. on May 2, 2021, on Wood Edge Drive in Edgewood with her passenger, 32 year old Jordan Cabalka of Edgewood. Meese failed to maintain control while negotiating a curve in the roadway, and she and Cabalka both were ejected from the vehicle. Cabalka sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
