Madonna attended the 2026 Met Gala in New York on Monday, May 4, wearing a custom Saint Laurent look by Anthony Vaccarello. The event’s dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” accompanied the Costume Institute’s 2026 exhibition, “Costume Art.”
On the red carpet, the singer wore a black satin and lace slip dress with black opera gloves, platform boots, and a large headpiece shaped like a ghost ship. A sheer cape extended from the look and was carried by seven attendants, who wore pastel floor-length dresses and translucent eye coverings.
The outfit referenced surrealist artist Leonora Carrington, particularly imagery connected to her painting The Temptation of St. Anthony. Fragment II. Madonna completed the look with dark waist-length hair, braided details around her face, bleached eyebrows, pink blush, and a pendant necklace.
Madonna has attended the Met Gala multiple times since the late 1990s. Her 2026 appearance followed her 2025 Met Gala look, when she wore a white Tom Ford suit.
