MADISON, Wis. — A Racine man claimed a $120 million Mega Millions jackpot last week.
Adrian Tongson bought the winning ticket at the Kwik Trip on 4924 Spring St. in Mount Pleasant.
A news release said he claimed the reward Nov. 10 for the Sept. 15 drawing. Tongson didn’t realize he won the jackpot until he checked his ticket several weeks after the drawing.
Tongson chose the cash option of roughly $95 million and went home with about $65.2 million after federal and state taxes. He has since quit his job and is making plans for how to use his winnings.
The win is Wisconsin’s first Mega Millions jackpot since the state debuted the game 10 years ago. However, over 60 $1 million winning tickets have been purchased in the state since 2010.
“Regardless of how much you spend, it only takes one ticket to win. That’s what won it for me,” Tongson said.
The Wisconsin Lottery said the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
