MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers announced Wednesday that he will be reissuing a statewide mask mandate and a State of Emergency amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Our current public health emergency expires this Saturday, Nov. 21,” Evers said in a DHS briefing Wednesday, “but it’s clear based on where we’re headed we can not afford to stop or have a gap in some of the only mitigation efforts we have in place, so today I’m announcing I’ll be declaring a new state of emergency this week and extending our public health emergency until January of next year.”
Evers said he will also re-issue Emergency Order No. 1, requiring face masks in public places.
