MADISON, Wis. — The City of Madison launched a new online dashboard Wednesday tracking the city’s long-term community and economic recovery from COVID-19.
The city said the dashboard has almost 50 metrics giving insights into many aspects of the city’s recovery, while combining existing public, city and community partner data in one place. The dashboard also focuses specifically on Madison and Dane County, giving it a tighter regional focus than many trackers, which only show state-level data.
The website said data for all metrics will be updated at least quarterly.
For example, the dashboard has a tab for Arts U& Culture, which includes “local arts, culture and the organizations that facilitate them.” Over the past 28 days in 2020, the city has had only 1,764 such events, while over the same period in 2019, there were nearly 3,300. It also shows that fire department and police special events support dropped dramatically from 2019 to 2020, as well as a steep drop in the number of bookings at the Monona Terrace.
