MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Tony Evers and Republican legislative leaders plan to meet Friday as thousands of Wisconsinites continue to test positive for COVID-19 on a daily basis.
Representatives from both Evers’ and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos’ offices confirmed the meeting with News 3 Now. Evers, Vos and Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu are expected to attend the meeting.
The meeting comes after months without new legislative action to address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. On Tuesday, Gov. Evers released a proposed relief bill to combat the pandemic.
Republican leadership held a press conference that same day to share their ideas for how to deal with the pandemic. GOP leadership did not share specific proposals.
During the press conference, Vos said he hopes to pass some form of COVID-19 relief as soon as possible, as early as December.
